Jazzexzess returns to House of Music in Friedrichshain in May for another first class double bill featuring Sera Kalo’s EX.II & Sheen Trio
Sera Kalo’s eX.II blends New-Wave-Poetry-Jazz with hypnotic electronics, abstract soundscapes, and deep grooves. Founded in 2023, the band captivates with improvisational energy, profound lyrics, and exceptional synergy.
After a celebrated support performance for Shabaka Hutchings in Berlin, eX.II toured internationally and contributed to the soundwalk experience of the Wassily Kandinsky exhibition at the H’ART Museum Amsterdam in 2024. Sera’s creative vision has earned her the Sony Music Female* Producer Prize, and she is nominated for the 2025 German Jazz Award in the Vocal category. Their debut album is set for release in 2025.
Atmospherically dense, lush, and sensual – the Sheen Trio shapes its music like a mythical means of transport. Jazz, rock, and experimental sounds intertwine with Iranian influences, shaped by clarinetist Shabnam Parvaresh. After her time in the Tehran Symphony Orchestra, she moved to Germany in 2014 and founded the trio in 2019 – a musical migration full of reflection and impulsiveness.
