Gelbart and Ryskinder at West Germany / Saturday, 22.10.2016

Following the release of his brand new album with the catchy title Preemptive Musical Offerings to Satisfy Our Future Masters, Gelbart beams down to Kotti for another fat slice of retro-futurist dada space-funk. With support from Ryskinder, you know this is going to be a good night.

ADI GELBART is an genius mad scientist, a true musically-accomplished giant among hordes of laptop charlatans, blending all colors and shades of electronic pop into his test tubes (old analog machines, guitars, rewired battery operated instruments, hand-built gadgets – did I already say mad?), to marvel at each resulting explosion of sound.

For his new release on Gagarin Records, multi instrumentalist Adi Gelbart delivers twelve PREEMPTIVE MUSICAL OFFERINGS TO SATISFY OUR FUTURE MASTERS. With a spiralling musical complexity reminiscent of film scores, BBC Radiophonics Workshop, Library Music, Criminal Swing, Russian Vitamins, Tinnitus’ Twist, Abstract Jazz and Musique Concrète, Gelbart surpasses himself this time by augmenting his palette of instruments to the extent where he becomes a small orchestra.

THE SOURCE of his musical identity plays THE MESSAGE of synths, broken organs, harpsichord (!), double bass, horns, cymbals and crispy drum machines. It’s a SPACETIME REVERIE, where TSUBURAYA blows LEAVES FOR GAMERA while HE WHO SPEAKS THROUGH PYRAMIDS walks through ECHOVILLE with DUST on his shoes, contemplating the BIRTH OF ALPHA after THE BIG SLEEP. While humming to songs of the second moon, the HARPSICHORD AUTOMATA leads THE MARCH OF THE THINKING MACHINES to a blissful silver big bang. The LPs comes in a beautifully designed sleeve with cover artwork by Berlin based German illustration star Benedikt Rugar who has contributed to newspapers such as The New York Times and Spiegel, as well as numerous animation film festivals.

RYSKINDER, also from Jerusalem is somewhat the middle eastern early Beck or whatever justifies a comparison with a solo multiinstrumentalist whos music boarder so nicely with insanity, low fi brutality and genius.
