YDRKM: Kepler at Monarch / Wednesday, 18.05.2016

Berlin is rich with local electronic music producers and DJs. Privately though not all of them are Exclusively listening to electronic music or the kind of music They make Themselves. So what else is inspiring them?

Once a month Monarch Berlin invites a producer artist, or DJ to play music he / she would Usually not play in a club: musicthat INFORMS the roots of Their styles, obscure songs they love, guilty pleasures, analogue or digital, danceable or not,

Back in 2004, two Berlin based Sick Girls by the name of Johanna Grabsch and Alex Dröner felt the need to spice up the dominant 4/4 rhythms and linear built-ups of Their beloved hometown with some serious bass. Ever since Their humble beginnings, Sick Girls have taken Their trademark blending of grime and garage, Dirty South rap, b-more and digi-dancehall to clubs and festivals all over the place, from Shanghai and Istanbul to Barcelona and back to the Berghain and Their very own Revolution No.5 party series.

Alex Dröner has been a fixture on the Berlin club circuit for years, Whether behind the decks, promo ting shows or as a contributing editor for a number of magazines. When she’s not with her partner in grime, she’s repping the Sick Girls in-yo-face agenda as Kepler.

This event is presented by Digital in Berlin. Check out our Facebook page to win tickets.
