Spleen & Takeshi Nishimoto @ Madame Claude Berlin | Monday, 12.05.2014

SPLEEN UNDERGROUND MUSIC is a collective project from Berlin formed by Sam Rouanet and Giovanni Verga, both musicians, producers and DJs. Their music goes everywhere from deep house to experimental free jazz dub music. The core of the project is the duo but they extended it to a full band or various formations for special gigs. Support comes from D/B favourite Takeshi Nishimoto who is known as one half of Im Not A Gun (together with John Tejada) and whose solo album Lavandula came out on the excellent Berlin label Sonic Pieces last year.

S.U.M. is present in different scenes from underground club sounds to experimental improvisational band music. Their style is every style as long as it is underground, soulful and has a warm tone. With influences that range from 1972-era Miles Davis to early 90s Moodyman, their mission is to bridge these sounds and bring to a universal groove across scenes. They are bringing their range of sounds to Madame Claude for Experimontag.

Takeshi Nishimoto

Lavandula is a very personal and beautiful late summer album that brings to mind the film music of Gustavo Santaolalla (21 grams, Babel, Biutiful) or Tape´s classic albums for Häpna, but traveling through Japanese, North American and European traditions. A great record to bring while traveling, wake up to in the morning or simply enjoy in a quiet evening.
