Sónar presents the first Sónar Chicago on the 9th, 10th and 11th of September 2010. With this new small-format festival Sonar returns to the United States.
Some of the artists confirmed to date are The Slew, Oval, Ben Frost, Nosaj Thing, Martyn, Nicolas Bernier + Martin Messier: La Chambre des Machines, The Flashbulb feat. the New Millennium Orchestra and many more.

Sonar Chicago will present a multidisciplinary line-up with an experimental slant that is consistent with the distinguishing feature of the Barcelona festival, and which on this occasion will focus on emerging talent and local scenes, in both North America and Catalonia.

As well as all that, Sónar Chicago expands its line-up with its collaboration with Adventures In Modern Music  (AIMM), the five-day festival organised by the renowned British magazine The Wire and the promoters at the Empty Bottle, one of the city’s most important venues.

In its eighth outing this year, it presents shows byThe Rhys Chatham Trio, Sleep and Efterklang, among others.

After 8 years of EME, this year EME turned EME.LL – EME Live Laptops. This years edition is a parallel event, an off ramp, dedicated exclusively to laptops in the live performance context. With a amazing and serious Line-Up for us one of the best Festivals in Portugal. Highly Recomended!

It is also a moment of reflection, a moment of evaluation and a small step into new possible futures. The main focus is now the creator, the laptop user, his problems, his questions and why not, his ambitious! After 10 years of use of the laptop as a performance instrument it seems to be now time to consider it’s implications with regard to the work process and production, be it an instrument or the function of a system.

This edition will consist of a one day symposium with 16 laptopers, followed by a day of performances. All the 16 guests have in common their extended use of the laptop in a real time performance context. The group will make a collective performance -16 Laptops (12 laptops on sound and 4 laptops on visuals) followed by a solo laptop from one of the most recognized electronic activist: Robin Rimbaud, aka Scanner.

EME.LL edition is part of Olhares de Outono Festival and is supported by the Universidade Católica do Porto. The meeting and the performance will be held at the historical space of the Mosteiro São Bento da Vitória in Porto. EME.LL, one day of reflection, and one day of action. Directed by Vitor Joaquim.

Founded in 2002 as continuation of the activities of the Belgradeyard Sound System collective, an independent organization dedicated to the promotion of new music tendencies, related art practices and the advancement of the local music and art scene through creating links between Serbian artists and audiences and established artists from around the world.
Stress is put on music, educational, art and design projects such as workshops, seminars, lectures, panels, screenings… walking the thin line between sound and image. In this context, Dis-patch School for new media manipulation was initiated in 2004, with a free admission workshop program focusing on video production and history of “synasthetic art”. Although electronic music is, generally speaking, very present on the Serbian cultural scene, most of the events are restricted to a more entertainment oriented approach.

The conception of the Dis-patch festival is to fill the blanks made by this practice, present emerging artists and technologies and foster audience participation and involvement of the local contemporary arts/music/new media scene. The festival explores the secret potentials of its surrounding by occupying several different venues over the course of one event, providing a strong community aspect and involvement of different cultural actors and insititutions on the Serbian scene.

In recent editions, more and more focus is put on variety of comissioned work and special performances, artist in residence and focus programs, installations, screenings and (live) cinema, workshops, and finally, children’s program which will involve 5-12 year olds from Belgrade in workshops, instrument building courses and concerts. We also put up panels, lectures and artists’ presentations and educational programs from the fields of copyright / music industry, live performing, live video, maxMSP / jitter, hardware etc.

Lillevan & Vladislav Delay / “Otan Osaa / Crystals & Sand”

The festival attracts a number of visitors from the surrounding countries each year. We will continue to explore the relationships and gaps between creativity and technology, and use the event as a creative force, providing a setting for new experiences and epiphanies to occur.

Klangbad Festival 2008

Audience and artists become parts of a musical biosphere, and it is hard to find anything comparable in today’s profit-oriented event area. Within shortest time, a network of volunteers interested in culture and music, has formed. Only through the enthusiastic work of artists and workers, who are committed to the idea, such an individual and independent project is able to arise and to take place for the fourth time in the meantime.

The festival is small and straightforward, but is growing constantly from year to year. Despite this fact, we abandon commercial sponsoring funds unlike normal open air festivals. But the aid through institutions and people who identify with the Klangbad idea is surely indispensable for the continuity of the festival. So we are always happy about money donations, equipment and above all, active support!

FRAME.SYNC -- the multi-visual space -- featuring most of the label’s artists roster, such as Alva Noto, Byetone, Frank Bretschneider, SND, Signal, Atom TM, COH, Pixel, Pomassl, Kangding Ray, Nibo and Senking, Raster-Noton has invited two special guests to join this remarkable event: Fennesz and Vladislav Delay (playing under his Uusitalo moniker).

Raster-Noton is a German electronic music record label founded in 1996 by Olaf Bender, Carsten Nicolai and Frank Bretschneider. Based in Chemnitz, Germany, Raster-Noton merged in 1999 from separate labels Rastermusik and Noton (Archiv für Ton und Nichtton).

The collective label’s aesthetic focus is rhythmic, minimal electronic music alternating between playful pop and introspection, partnered with unconventional and equally minimal packaging design.
