The first edition of Festival Semibreve will take place in Braga, from 10 to 13 of November 2011, integrated in the European Youth Capital 2012 programme.

The Monastery of Tibães will held an extension dedicated to lectures and conferences from leading artists and researchers in the field of art-applied technology.

Theatro Circo, one of the city’s highlights, will be the heart of the event, hosting concerts, installations and works created by the Computer Graphics Center and the Department of Information Systems of University of Minho.

Performing at the Teatro Circo on 11–13 November are Qluster with Luma.Launisch, Taylor Deupree and Stephan Mathieu performing Transcriptions, Jon Hopkins, Fennesz joined by video artist Pedro Maia, Blac Koyote, alva noto, Murcof with AntiVJ and Vitor Joaquim & Hugo Olim.

Lectures take place on 10 November at the Tibães Monastery. The speakers are Hans Joachim Roedelius, Taylor Deupree, Stephan Mathieu, Vitor Joaquim and Tony Herrington.

Braga is the oldest archdiocese and Portugal’s third major city. Braga is the oldest Portuguese city and one of the oldest Christian cities in the World. With an urban population of 175,063, Braga is the largest city in Portugal after Lisbon and Oporto.

It is also a moment of reflection, a moment of evaluation and a small step into new possible futures. The main focus is now the creator, the laptop user, his problems, his questions and why not, his ambitious! After 10 years of use of the laptop as a performance instrument it seems to be now time to consider it’s implications with regard to the work process and production, be it an instrument or the function of a system.

This edition will consist of a one day symposium with 16 laptopers, followed by a day of performances. All the 16 guests have in common their extended use of the laptop in a real time performance context. The group will make a collective performance -16 Laptops (12 laptops on sound and 4 laptops on visuals) followed by a solo laptop from one of the most recognized electronic activist: Robin Rimbaud, aka Scanner.

EME.LL edition is part of Olhares de Outono Festival and is supported by the Universidade Católica do Porto. The meeting and the performance will be held at the historical space of the Mosteiro São Bento da Vitória in Porto. EME.LL, one day of reflection, and one day of action. Directed by Vitor Joaquim.

The conception of the Dis-patch festival is to fill the blanks made by this practice, present emerging artists and technologies and foster audience participation and involvement of the local contemporary arts/music/new media scene. The festival explores the secret potentials of its surrounding by occupying several different venues over the course of one event, providing a strong community aspect and involvement of different cultural actors and insititutions on the Serbian scene.

We also put up panels, lectures and artists’ presentations and educational programs from the fields of copyright / music industry, live performing, live video, maxMSP / jitter, hardware etc.

Klangbad Festival 2008

Audience and artists become parts of a musical biosphere, and it is hard to find anything comparable in today’s profit-oriented event area. Within shortest time, a network of volunteers interested in culture and music, has formed. Only through the enthusiastic work of artists and workers, who are committed to the idea, such an individual and independent project is able to arise and to take place for the fourth time in the meantime.

The festival is small and straightforward, but is growing constantly from year to year. Despite this fact, we abandon commercial sponsoring funds unlike normal open air festivals. But the aid through institutions and people who identify with the Klangbad idea is surely indispensable for the continuity of the festival. So we are always happy about money donations, equipment and above all, active support!

Raster-Noton is a German electronic music record label founded in 1996 by Olaf Bender, Carsten Nicolai and Frank Bretschneider. Based in Chemnitz, Germany, Raster-Noton merged in 1999 from separate labels Rastermusik and Noton (Archiv für Ton und Nichtton).

The collective label’s aesthetic focus is rhythmic, minimal electronic music alternating between playful pop and introspection, partnered with unconventional and equally minimal packaging design.
