Korg has unveiled the iMS-20, a new iPad app based on classic Korg synth instruments with a modern twist.

iMS-20 includes an emulation of the legendary Korg MS-20 semi-modular analog synth, along with a built-in 16-step analog sequencer, based on the Korg SQ-10. Also, additional new features, including an analog drum machine, mixer, dual Kaoss pads and direct access to the SoundCloud platform.

The MS-20 needs no introduction, being one of the most popular analog mono synths, known for its aggressive and deep sound. Korg emulated it (as standalone software and VST/AU plug-in) in its Legacy collection a few years ago (still available) and now ported it to the iPad platform (with lots of extra features).

The Korg SQ-10, also introduced in the late 1970s, is effectively recreated for the iMS-20 app. Featuring 16 steps, this analog sequencer can produce either a series of pitches or create a cyclic pattern of control changes to the volume, panning, filter brightness and other synthesizer parameters. The iMS-20 version also includes new improvements not found on the original, such as easy control of notes, volume, pan, or synth/effect parameters.

The iMS-20 also features a six-part drum machine, with independent control of pitch and gate time. By using the seven-channel mixer, complete with several Insert effects, users can bring together the MS-20 and drum machine components to create full musical phrases. The iMS-20 is also equipped with dual Kaoss pad control surfaces – one for note creation as made famous by Korg’s KAOSSILATOR, and one for manipulating parameter values in real-time, as found on Korg’s KAOSS series of effects processors.

Last but not least, users can share their creativity via the SoundCloud integration feature. Audio data exported by the iMS-20 app can be quickly published and shared, and users can access the SoundCloud server right from within iMS-20 app.

________________________________________________________________

Price: $15.99 (USD) until January 31, 2011, after which point the app will be available for the regular price of $32.99

Turn your mobile phone into a complete DJ set-up and hit the road with the new Red Bull BPM range of apps for your iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.
Whether you’re a pro DJ mixing at a club or mixing music in your bedroom, the range of Red Bull BPM Player apps can put a complete mobile DJ booth in your pocket. Quick to install and easy to understand, the apps are compatible with a wide range of sound formats.

You can use it on it’s own and even in harmony with your traditional vinyl decks or CD-player. Just add an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad.

The Red Bull BPM applications have been developed over the past 10 months in partnership with Stereomusik Systems in Essen, Germany.

The range of brand new DJ applications include a handy customizable player, iTunes library import, built-in effects engine, Vinyl Vision, iTunes tag management, built-in virtual audio mixer, zero latency monitoring and two independent stereo outputs on WLAN or Bluetooth.

Never miss a beat Using a phone as the base for a DJ set-up poses a unique problem but we’ve found an ingenious solution. An iPod touch, iPhone or iPad only has one stereo output, so how can you listen to the next track before you cue it up?
Here we catch the highlights from the launch night in Trouw Amsterdam, where a stellar line-up of DJs including Modeselektor, Joris Voorn, Nuno dos Santos, Darko Esser and Brutuzz used the Red Bull BPM Player to perform amazing sets!

Red Bull BPM apps overcomes this limitation by offering a special audio SPLIT CABLE ADAPTER, also supporting the MasterOut app to provide two separate stereo outputs for monitoring and master for the PRO- and HD version. Digital in Berlin highly Recommended!

ZAGG’s invisibleSHIELD™ is a thin polyurethane film originally created for the military to protect the leading edge of helicopter blades. What’s unique about this military-grade, patented film is how tough it is – it doesn’t scratch. What makes invisibleSHIELD so strong, flexible and scratch-proof? Its Nano-Memory technology™. With this technology, it also allows it to curve and contour around an entire device (not just the screen) and adhere to the device unless you want to remove it.

Introduced to the world in early 2005, the invisibleSHIELD is the first product of its kind. Its patent-pending solution of wrapping hand-held devices with a clear protective film, has revolutionized the industry and has changed the way people think of protecting their beloved gadgets. Others have tried to imitate the invisibleSHIELD so don’t be fooled by cheap copy-cats.

Apart from keeping your devices scratch-free, the invisibleSHIELD provides some unexpected benefits. Unlike cases, its uncompromising design doesn’t take away from the look and feel of your device. It adds no bulk, allowing you to freely hold, carry, and dock your device without interruption. Also, its “grippy” feel gives your device an improved grip making it less likely that you will drop your once-slippery device.

The invisibleSHIELD has been designed to protect over 2,500 handheld electronics, including the Apple iPod touch, the Apple iPhone 3G, the LG Voyager, the BlackBerry Curve and so many, many more. If your device is not listed on our site, we can even custom design one for you. VIA www.zagg.com

Get ready for MacBook touch?!

So says our source — the same one who tipped us to wireless iTunes Store sales direct to iPod, iPhone a week before Apple debuted it — in staccato fashion:

Think MacBook screen, possibly a bit smaller, in glass with iPhone-like, but fuller-featured Multi-Touch. Gesture library. Full Mac OS X. This is why they bought P.A. Semi. Possibly with Immersion’s haptic tech. Slot-loading SuperDrive. Accelerometer. GPS. Pretty expensive to produce initially, but sold at “low” price that will reduce margins. Apple wants to move these babies. And move they will. This is some sick shit. App Store-compatible, able to run Mac apps, too. By October at the latest.

MacDailyNews Note: This is a rumor. We have no other information. We cannot confirm this information independently at this time, but felt it plausible enough to bring to your attention.

We are working to develop new products that contains technologies that our competition will not be able to match. I cannot discuss these new products, but we are very confident in our product pipeline. – Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer, during Apple’s Q308 Financial Results Conference Call, July 21, 2008
