Stine Janvin Motland & Mensch Mensch Mensch @ Ausland Berlin | Friday, 20.06.2014

Ausland invites you to join a Triple Record Release on Friday night, welcoming Stine Janvin Motland, a performer and composer from Stavanger, Norway. Working with extended vocal techniques, Stine explores and pushes the frontiers of the natural acoustic of the voice. She has become a central figure in the Norwegian scene of experimental music, performing solo and with the groups Kitchen Orchestra and Song Circus.

In addition to projects with composers such as Maja Ratkje, Øyvind Torvund, Therese Birkelund Ulvo, Ruben Sverre Gjertsen and Mats Gustafsson, she improvises regularly with musicians like C Spencer Yeh and Lasse Marhaug. Stine also collaborates with visual artists Cecilie Bjørgås Jordheim, Melissa Dubbin and Aaron Davidsson, choreographer Ula Sickle and theater director Hildur Kristinnsdottir.

As a creator her main focus is her solo work, in addition to her performance/theater group Brigitte & Paula band. Stine will present her two brand new solo album releases; «Ok, wow» (+3db) and «In Labour» (Pica Disk).

Third release of the night is Mensch Mensch Mensch’s fresh 12″ vinyl LP – out on alt.vinyl, UK. Multi-ist Liz Allbee and echtzeit-er Burkhard Beins team up for some live-electro-acoustic explorations. Informed by their connatural musical backgrounds ranging from industrial/noise via musique concrète to free improvisation the two players create interactive fields of an imaginarchic nature.

Liz Allbee works with the imaginarchic potential of sonic material. As a composer, improviser, performer and objectician, she has a keen interest in the experienced physicality of sound. She works most often with trumpet, electronics and voice.

In addition to electro-acoustic composition and improvisation, her work increasingly encompasses instrument-building & the theater of listening, through which she can focus on issues of technology, extension and embodiment. She is interested in proto-lingualism, in the gestures, loops, and tics of communication, in re-configuring hands and the tools that make them.

Burkhard Beins, lives in Berlin since 1995. As a composer/performer working in the fields of experimental music and sound art he is known for his definitive use of percussion in combination with selected sound objects. Furthermore, he works with live-electronics and analog synthesizers.

He has released more than 40 CDs and LPs on labels like Zarek, Erstwhile etc., he gives lectures and workshops, has published several articles on music theory, and is a co-editor of the book “Echtzeitmusik Berlin – Self-Defining a Scene” as well as the curator of a follow-up 3CD compilation featuring the Berlin Echtzeitmusik scene.
