Seun Kuti leads the 14 piece afro-beat band which he took over after the death of his father Fela Kuti for a special live concert at Gretchen this December. They’ll be joined for live sets by Pongo from Buraka Som Sistema and French sound visionaries Fixi.

If there is one sound that is sure to get you dancing, it is that sweet afro-beat. Carrying important political messages, it always brings the people together. With his latest album ‚Black Times‘ released last March, youngest son of late and legendary Fela Kuti for the release of his new Album on the excellent UK-based label Strut Records. Black Times is the fourth album by Seun and Fela´s original Band Egypt 80, his most accomplished and honest album yet.

A killer saxophonist and powerful lyricist, Seun is a pioneer of afrobeat music like his father performing with the renowned Egypt 80 Band. For his last opus, he has worked alongside the likes of Robert Glasper, Carlos Santana, Hiatus Kaiyote or Yasiin Bey (alias Mos Def) who add to the classic sound. Seun keeps his words socially conscious and politically forceful, mixing it with the upbeat and irresistable afrobeat groove.
