Introduced by Peter Broderick last summer, these two pianists found they share a love ot the pursuit of mystery and space through the piano. In these unique and intimate environments, they will be performing material from their recent solo albums and sharing the stage for a new oo-written duet.
An accomplished pianist, composer and producer from Berlin, Nils often works in collaboration with his friend Peter Broderick who invited him to record a new album of solo piano improvisations in late 2000 for Kning Disk.
The Bells as well as its predecessor Wintermusik are now available on Erased Tapes. Known for his richly improvised concerts, he has shared the stage this year with Balmorhea, Johann Johannsson, and Olafur Arnalds.
[audio:Nils Frahm – ambre.mp3]Composer and pianist Rachel Grimes released her solo piano album Book of Leaves in 2009 (RuminanCe and Karate Body Records) and is widely known for her work with the pioneering indie chamber group RacheI’s, who released six albums on Ouarterstick/Touch 8.
She has finished a new record with King’s Daughters 8.
Sons and is creating a new chamber piece for New York’s SITI Company. Rachel works with filmmakers and choreographers, and has recently performed alongside the Swell Season, Bonnie Prince Billy and On Fillmore.
