›Parallax‹ is the meeting-point of two ostensibly very different musical traditions. The Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin has been one of Germany’s leading orchestras for over seventy years. Having recently announced the first season of its new Music Director Robin Ticciati, the DSO reaffirms the commitment to recontextualising modern and contemporary classical music. Since 2013 Berlin Atonal has become one of Europe’s largest platforms for developing and presenting innovative music, with a continued emphasis on reinterpreting the possibilities for contemporary music with and against the background of 21st century compositional and sound-making practices.

With a programme comprising music from the baroque era and modern micropolyphony as well the DSO and its new music director Robin Ticciati set off to explore the acoustic potentials of Kraftwerk Berlin, the magnificent industrial cathedral and homebase of Berlin Atonal.

Two new electronic pieces by Valerio Tricoli + PYUR and Paul Jebanasam – commissioned by DSO and curated by Berlin Atonal – will reflect on, disrupt and answer to the symphonic music in their own way, before the evening culminates in the premiere performance of a new piece for orchestra and electronics by classically trained percussionist and Techno pioneer Moritz von Oswald.
