[audio:svarte_greiner–the_boat_was_my_friend.mp3]It is Skodvins intense exploration into a dark, mysterious & disturbed universe. Alexander Rishaug is a sound artist, producer and musician based in Oslo, Norway. His sound is melodic, melancholic and often quiet. Svarte Greiner is an intense exploration into a dark, mysterious & disturbed universe.
Drawing inspirations from artists such as Earth, Volcano the Bear & Deathprod, the output of Svarte Greiner is draped in David Lynch inspired mysticism.
Since his release of his drone-laden debut album “Knive” in 2006, Skodvin has released a well-received series of singles, cassettes and limited edition releases for a number of labels. The influence of horror films has been a constant current in his music since the start. Since his debut album, Skodvin also started to build up a distinctive live technique using an unusual collection of broken glove puppets and potion-filled medicine bottles. These experiments led to the death-rattle of chains, dense chattering cloud of torment and bleak stillness of his more recent releases.
Svarte Greiner | The Boat Was My Friend
Alexander Rishaug explores tones and textures through the use of electronics, field recordings, toys or simply just playing around with an instrument. He combines the intimate knowledge of his musical equipment with the curiousness of an amateur. The result is always a detailed, rich and subtle sound, with a sharp focus on structure, rhythm and stretched out melodies.
From 01 November to 13 November 2011, Alexander Grishaug will join Svarte Greiner for the Black Oyster Tour.
