Garden City Movement at Badehaus / Thursday, 08.06.2017

Three years ago, when Tel-Aviv based electronic music project Garden City Movement released their debut EP “Entertainment”, nobody expected the buzz that this trio would create. Pitchfork, Clash, FADER, Stereogum, Fact, you name it – everyone was simply in awe with their hypnotic, dancefloor-ready beats, intertwined vocals and intricately-drawn, gorgeous atmospherics. Support slots for SOHN, Alt-J and Rufus, an appearance at Boiler Room and bookings at Primavera, Pukkelpop, Glastonbury and Fusion Festival soon followed.
Their second EP “Bengali Cinema” and the conclusion of the EP-trilogy “Modern West” continued their media praise, dominating Hype Machine and getting picked up by radio stations all over the world.

The band’s live performance transform the three-piece into a four-piece and beautifully captures their warm, calming sounds that stirs with thick, yearning and emotional melodies. Over the last year, the band – along with their Israeli- based label BLDG 5 Records – has really built name for themselves not only for their music but their stunning visuals. In the UK and EU, GCM has made their debut at Glastonbury, Primavera Sound, opened for Alt J, SOHN and performed for the first time at Vienna’s The Full Hit of Summer Festival with Caribou, Young Fathers and Timber Timbre. The internet- buzz, success over their previous EP projects has garnered them multiple TOP 10 Hype Machine hits, over 1 million plays on Soundcloud for singles like “Move On” and praise from Pitchfork, to The FADER, to Stereogum, to Dummy, to Fact and more.

We’re excited to see what else the band will have in store for us when they stop by for one of their rare live-concerts on german grounds.
