Discwoman + Creamcake workshop & afterparty at OHM / Saturday, 13.08.2016

“Collaborating to empower women and LGBT in electronic music.”

New York-based female-only collective Discwoman is teaming up with event organizers Creamcake for a DJing workshop and afterparty at Berlin’s OHM on August 13. In a joint effort to offer more space and power to women in electronic music, the free event is curated by and for women and LGBT people keen to engage in the culture.

The workshop runs from 7-9pm and invites girls and women-identified people to bring their music on USB sticks for a quick but intensive introduction to specialised digital music player CDJ 2000.

No previous background in DJing is required. Participants need to register via email: hi@creamcake.de.

The afterparty featuring five DJs from across the globe will follow, and is open to anyone who celebrates diversity and change in electronic music. This exceptional list of rising young artists includes DJ Haram, listed as one of FACT Magazine’s 10 club producers to watch this year. As just one part of her multidisciplinary approach to creating, she also hosts parties and is about to drop her debut EP. DJ and Producer Bearcat is inspired by her Jamaican roots, using sound to give life to not only the dancefloor but her own documentary films. HD (Hannah Daly) can unequivocally call herself a professional DJ and producer. Well-known for her work worldwide, she ascended the industry ladder by scoring music for fashion labels Chromat and Gypsy Sport at NYFW. Ziúr’s debut EP Taiga has been a hit with music media this year, with the Berlin-based producer going on to support Peaches on tour, and leaving an indelible mark on the city’s experimental music scene. Meanwhile, Yanling from Zurich will add more fire to the evening with her dark rave revivalism.
