die Reihe. Beiträge zu auditiver Kunst und Kultur

As the first event this winter semester 2018/19 and on the occasion of the INFO DAY of the Master’s program Sound Studies and Sonic Arts, ‘die Reihe. Contributions to auditory art and culture’ presents the Swiss sound artist, musician, and researcher Gilles Aubry Earpolitics.

He will be presenting his piece “And who sees the mystery”, originally published on the Berlin label Corvo Records in 2017. The performance is based on sound check situations and rehearsals of Berber-Amazigh music recorded by Gilles Aubry in Morocco. Using his microphone as a sound processing device Aubry transforms further his field recordings through performative feedback techniques.

The result is an abstract sonic exploration of traditional instruments, rhythms and spaces. It also features a poetic text in Amazigh language by Farid Zalhoud, “Tribute to the Ear”, commissioned especially for the project.

If you are interested in getting to know the UdK and our Sound Studies and Sonic Arts program, come visit us for our INFO DAY 2018 on November 24, 2018 starting from 2:30 p.m on the 3rd floor! Please register at ask@sounds.berlin.

Entrance to both of these events is FREE.
