He has been playing what he describes as “psychedelic appalachia” since he was a teenager, releasing small run editions of tapes, CDs and LPs for the past three years, with a sound that evolved from drones and banjos to a now guitar centered focus.

Touring off and on since the age of 17, Bachman has managed to cover thorough ground across the US, sharing stages with like minded folk such as fellow Fredericksburg native Jack Rose, for whom he fashioned the artwork for the posthumous release of ‘Luck In The Valley’.

His newest effort is the full length LP ‘Seven Pines’, sprung from a year living and working in the city of Philadelphia.

Ryley Walker is a modern day traveler following in the footsteps of British greats like Davy Graham and Bert Jansch as well as the folksy Tim’s (Buckley and Hardin respectively). Folk sounds of yesterday but looking toward the future always.

Together the two guitar virtuosos have been crisscrossing North America playing shows in every nook and cranny possible resulting in their album “Of Deathly Premonitions”. Their music is right up the alley of John Fahey, Sandy Bull, and Leo Kottke.

Recorded in a barn in Virginia, the album offers up incredible variations on acoustic fingerpicking in open tunings complimented by an esoteric electric guitar, and at times, an air organ.

This has just the right amount of psychedelia spread over a thick foundation of “traditional” folk music. Serious talent here. Daniel Bachman also plays under the name Sacred Harp which is in a similar vein.

This event is highly recommended by Digital in Berlin! We are giving away 2 x 2 tickets. Just send a mail to win@digitalinberlin.de with “Daniel Bachmann” as the subject.
