Poland’s award-winning Tauron Nowa Muzyka Festival is digging out the most creative and innovative electronic music stars and showcasing them at the unusual surroundings of New Silesian Museum, a terrain that for over a century has been used as a fully functional coal mine.

This year, as warm-up for XI. Tauron Nowa Muzyka Festival 2016, the before parties will – for the first time in history – reach out beyond Poland and into Europe. May 3rd we are heading to Berlin to host an epic night of electronic music in the legendary Berghain with the likes of Venetian Snares, RSS B0YS and Nervy.

VENETIAN SNARES: He surely has to be the number one figure for breakcore in the history of the genre. During the last 20 years of his career, he brought this extreme type of electronic music from basement underground clubs to festival stages and fashionable dance floors. Venetian Snares combines heavy layered bass textures and rhythms with modern music, movie samples and even his own love life – and at the same time he takes apart other music genres such as drum n’ bass, dubstep, jungle or acid techno. His live performances are an extreme experience.

RSS B0YS: The very enigmatic duo who do not reveal their faces and always perform with top to bottom lace burkas. They experiment with club anthems which they often mix by taking techno music, Maghreb countries folk music (Western Africa) and footwork.

NERVY: In a postmodern world, where everything is a copy of something else, Nervy have managed to make an album that escapes the traditional thinking about music genres. The project ,Nervy‘ mixes electronic music with live horns and string sections combined with mathematically constructed beats. This results truly club dance floor energy and enthusiasm.

Somehow Islaja fits in with these new modern female acts such as Anika, Nite Jewel and Yula – even if their styles are all quite distinct. Now with her fifth album appearing on Gudrun Gut’s Monika Enterprise, the latest activities of Berlin-based Finnish pop musician Islaja have shown a surprising change in style and sound. S U U was coproduced and mixed by fellow Berlin resident Heidi Mortenson.
