11+3 is designed to give you an insight into the motivations and aspirations of the best creative minds in the world.Adam Marshall D/B 11+3 Interview with Adam Marshall
This time with DJ Adam Marshall from Berlin. Each artist is asked 11 set questions and to contribute 3 “facts” which can be any statement from them on absolutely anything: their own views on politics, religion, the environment, sport…or just something they read in the paper or saw on TV.

FACTS:

1: Red.
2: Yellow.
3: Orange.

QUESTIONS:

1. What is the biggest inspiration for your music?
Curvy thighs and late night drives….

2. How and when did you get into making music?
About 6 years ago I got into making music seriously – as opposed to fucking around in my bedroom on my 909, which was about 5 years of my life :)

3. What are your 5 favourite albums of all time?

Hmmmm…..
1. ‘Green Mind’ by Dinosaur Jr.
2. ‘Electro Soma’ by B12 on Warp Records
3. ‘Strictly Turntabilized’ by Various Artists on Mo’Wax
4. ‘Lazer Guided Melodies’ by Spiritualized
5. ‘Screamadelica’ by Primal Scream & Andrew Weatherall

4. What do you associate with Berlin?
Gothic winter darkness. It’s cosy and very productive.

5. What’s your favourite place in your town?
Anywhere along the canal on Paul-Linke-Ufer with some sunshine, some friends and a beer.

6. If there was no music in the world, what would you do instead?
Fashion photography, of course, what else is there in life? (Actually, seriously, I would have been a photographer. Or maybe I still will?)

7. What was the last record you bought?
‘Live In New York’ by the Moritz von Oswald Trio w/ Francois K. & Carl Craig : Honest Jon’s Records HJRLP 053 (UK Double Vinyl LP)

8. Who would you most like to collaborate with?
Sandro Perri (of Polmo Polpo fame…). My hero.

9. What was your best gig (as performer or spectator)?
The Jak parties that Richie and crew did back in the early 90′s in Detroit were among the most intense events I’ve ever been to. You can’t beat black plastic, acid house and sweat.

10. How important is technology to your creative process?
Less and less….

11. Do you have siblings and are they proud or jealous of you?
I have no one.
